Reading time: 6 – 10 minutes You hear so much talk about RSS these days on the Internet and in the media. Everyone is acknowledging it’s importance in boosting your site’s presence on the web. Not to mention how it can increase your site’s traffic and ranking. But what exactly is RSS and how can I actually use it on my site? Try these Five Easy Ways… First, just what is RSS? RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. Basically, RSS allows you to directly deliver your content to all interested parties… don’t come to us; we will deliver the information to you or your website. It syndicates your content. It lets you send updated headlines and brief summaries to your subscribers. In a nutshell; it’s simply a more efficient way to get your content ‘out there’. Many people associate RSS with Blogs or Blogging because Blogs are usually written in XML or RSS format (code like html) so that these headlines and postings...

Reading time: 6 – 10 minutes One of the biggest reasons people visit websites is to get information. If you can regularly provide fresh, quality content on your website you can expect to be rewarded by visitors and return visitors. What’s more, you will be rewarded by the search engines. I recommended that you add new and original content to your site as often as possible, ideally once a day. Regularly adding fresh and original content: - Keeps your site visitors coming back - Continually adds value to your website - Makes people more comfortable buying from your site - Establishes yourself as an authority in your industry - Greatly helps your site rank higher in search engines All of the above factors translate into revenue. We all know how hard adding original and fresh content is, especially if you’re the business owner. You have to be original, creative, organized, thoughtful and motivated, and above all, able to write. So what’s a website owner or business owner...

Reading time: 8 – 12 minutes SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the art and science of making search engines rank your site high in the natural search results when someone types in a query. That’s the intent of SEO, however. Since SEO is still an emerging field, there is no “governing body”, and the rules sometimes change. A good SEO professional understands these changing rules, and knows how to properly apply them. A bad SEO specialist generally makes mistakes, or purposely tries to deceive the system to win “fake” high rankings. It is not true that you have no control over what appears in the search engines. The content that you put on your site determines where you appear in the search engine results page (SERP). If your site is about “widgets”, you’re probably not going to appear in search results about “bus fares”. The most important thing you can do on the web is to represent yourself honestly. If your site is about...

Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes I know you see it all the time on the Net these days, but you still don’t know what the heck it is. RSS, RSS, what in the world is RSS and what can it do for me? RSS which is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication has also stood for Rich Site Summary. Regardless, it is an XML based form of delivering content to the masses. One of the main reasons why it has become so popular is the fact that it is free (reminds of the reason why MySQL and PHP is so popular as well). It makes it a very simple way to create a site with loads of content without a huge knowledge of web design or html. And no, you don’t have to set up huge partnerships with big content sites, you can just grab their information via an RSS feed and you are up and running. Content worthy of the search engines. RSS has been around for a few years, but it just started getting popular in the last couple of years. There have always been ways to deliver fresh, new content to your visitors...

Reading time: 6 – 10 minutes There’s been a story brewing for quite some time about the attempt by Jason Gambert to trademark the term “SEO”. Gambert claims that the words “search engine optimization” have no real linguistic English value beyond being a process;. So, he’s trying to trademark “SEO” as a service, basically claiming that “SEO” itself is Net lingo and has no “Official English linguistic value.” In his blog, Gambert claims that “I am helping the search engine marketing community establish an approved SEO process, which can be sold as an ‘SEO service.’” He goes on to explain that other industries have standards and guidelines and, as these industries are recognised as services, it means that there is a way for consumers to identify practitioners with credible offerings. Now, although we can jump on the “fry Gambert” bandwagon and I think that his idea is nothing more...
