Beware Host Gator Site Owners

Reading time: 2 – 2 minutes This morning HostGator has made everyone change their passwords to a strong password. This is no big deal until you go to access anything that uses your mysql database. Just a heads up, this can royally screw your blog access. Being the administrator for more than half a dozen blogs and bbs hosted on HostGator. To fix this problem you can do one of two things, but only one of them will probably get done today. 1) Cry to support for a fix. 2) Download your wp-congig.php manually change the password To your new one then upload it overwriting the old file. Have fun and enjoy the rest of your Memorial Day convey_source = "English"; Read More →

Theme Changes

Reading time: 2 – 2 minutes The question of whether you should make theme adjustments is always a difficult one to answer. It is even be harder to do and not negatively affect your onsite readers. A pot of coffee by your side while making...

Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes The install of WordPress 2.5 is a pretty painless event if you can follow easy directions and don’t go out of your way to make things harder than they really are.  I know what you are thinking thinking, why would anyone want to make things harder than they need to be.  The answer is simple, they are either idiots, morons who think they know everything already, or simply really bored smart people who need a challenge in their life and do so at the risk of being thought of as idiots, morons or assholes put on this earth to aggravate everyone else. If you are doing a clean unassisted install on your server, you will need a few things. A clear head, trying to do an install with a migraine going on is just plain stupid.  Do as I say not do as I do and you will have much better luck getting things done right the first time. If you are caffeine junky you should get your fix before starting and keep another hit close at hand. You need to know some pretty...
